Let’s face it- a lot of people are going to be searching for that next “quick fix” once this quarantine comes to a close. How often did you find yourself going to your cupboards or the fridge while you were stuck at home, only to find that the same stuff is still there?! Did you snack or eat more than normal out of boredom? You’re human… I did it too! At first, I blamed my “hangry-ness” (I’m sure it’s a real word that will eventually be in Webster’s Dictionary) on being pregnant. After I had my “pandemic baby” in April, I blamed it on nursing. Then I took responsibility and blamed it on “boredom” and a lack of planning on my part.
A lot of people have most likely put on some weight during these last couple of months. I’m grateful that my “pandemic snacking” didn’t get out of control and I’ve been able to “stay on track. I’m happy to say that, 1 month postpartum, I’m 3 lbs away from my where I was when I got pregnant for Quinn/4 months postpartum with Chloe!
While I don’t fully believe in scales to measure health and fitness success, my own vanity got me curious to step on the scale. I haven’t been able to exercise in the last 5 weeks because of healing from labor, and my body composition is far from where I’d like it to be, however I have been making sure to practice what we preach with nutrition here at KW Fitness because I’m sick of wearing maternity clothes! I PROMISE YOU that you’re going to see a whole lot of gimmicky, “too good to be true” fad-diet marketing in the coming weeks and I want to give you some simple tips that we teach our clients here.
“Dieting”, deprivation, magic pills and shakes are never the answer. At KW Fitness, we want you to EAT!! Food is FUEL.
Our MISSION is to educate our community. Our purpose is to teach health & fitness results that last a lifetime. In order for that to happen, people need to learn REALISTIC, maintainable HABITS.
Once our clients get these habits down, it’s AMAZING to see the results and those habits spread to their friends and families. It’s never too early or too late to learn the right way to view FOOD- as a FRIEND, not an enemy!
DON’T BELIEVE THESE 3 MYTHS:
1) “As long as I workout, I can eat whatever I want”.
FALSE. Obviously, having a great workout program in place makes a BIG difference, however you CANNOT OUT-TRAIN A BAD DIET.
2) “If I DON’T eat a lot, I’ll lose weight.”
FALSE. If you don’t eat enough, your body won’t have the ENERGY to exercise. Your body will start burning lean mass instead of fat, because it won’t have enough fat to burn! It’s super important to make sure you’re getting enough protein, carbohydrates, and FATS.
3) “If I do crunches, planks, buy an ab roller, etc. I will get a six pack.”
FALSE!! The most effective way to get rid of belly fat is by eating the right way. My mom has always said “it’s all in the kitchen”. If there’s one thing that the KW Fitness coaches hear ALL THE TIME, it’s “what exercise can I do to get rid of this (pointing to belly)?!”. Unfortunately there isn’t one single exercise that can target one single area. TARGET TRAINING DOES NOT WORK.
STOP DIETING!! Start EATING… the right way. Life is too short to deprive yourself and feel miserable on some silly diet or food plan.
